1. Introduction
LineCheckPrep ("we", "us", "our") operates linecheckprep.com (the "Service"), an independent practice tool for the ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification Examination. We are not affiliated with the National Restaurant Association or ServSafe. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have.
2. What We Collect
- Account data: your name, email address, and a hashed password. We never see or store your actual password.
- Simulator usage: attempts, scores, time per question, and per-chapter results.
- Payment data: processed entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device, and referring URL.
- Anonymous visitor ID: a random identifier stored in your browser before you sign up, so it can be linked to your account when you create one. Practice runs are taken while signed in and stored against your account.
- Email events: delivery, open, and click events for the emails we send you.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Deliver and score the simulator and show you your results.
- Authenticate your account and process purchases.
- Send transactional email: receipts, password resets, and results.
- Send marketing email, only with a working opt-out that we honour immediately.
- Verify email addresses at signup to keep accounts reachable.
- Detect abuse, fraud, and violations of our terms.
4. Cookies and Browser Storage
We use first-party browser storage only: your sign-in session, the anonymous visitor ID, and attribution parameters that tell us how you found the site. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell your personal data to anyone.
5. Email
Every marketing email includes a working one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing adds your address to a suppression list that is honoured across all future sends. Receipts and account emails never carry marketing content. Our mailing address appears in every marketing email, as the law requires.
6. Third-Party Processors
We rely on a small number of processors, each used only to provide its service to us:
- Cloud hosting provider — authentication and database hosting.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Brevo — transactional and marketing email delivery.
- ZeroBounce — email-address verification at signup.
- Cloudflare — DNS, content delivery, and protection against attacks.
7. Reviews
If you choose to leave a review after a run, we store it with your account, the date, and your explicit consent. A review is shown publicly only after you consent and we approve it. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us and we will take the review down.
8. Data Retention
We keep account and performance data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time and we will remove your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law — for example, payment records.
9. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Email us to exercise any of these rights and we will respond promptly.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
11. Security
We encrypt data in transit, store passwords only as hashes, and restrict access to personal data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced by email or an in-app notice before they take effect.
